(This course is also running face to face in Malvern at the temple: Mondays from 7pm – 8pm UK time (2pm EST) on 31st August, 7th and 14th of September – BOOK HERE. Limited to 8.)

Who is this course designed for?
This course is for anyone who is interested in living with more freedom and purpose. You might be younger or older, mostly satisfied with your current life or not, working or not, a veteran of ‘doing work on yourself’ or spiritual practice or coming to it all fresh. All are welcome – all you need to bring is your curiosity. The course makes use of concepts taken from Buddhism, Internal Family Systems and other paradigms but we won’t use much Buddhist language and the course is suitable both for those who have an interest in Buddhism and for those who don’t.

What will happen during the course?
Each of the three course sessions will include two stories from Satya, two proposals and two offerings. There will also be a chance to ask questions and a chance to practice one of three different short meditations. The first session is called ‘Why it’s not easy to be human’ and we will explore the reasons why we become disappointed with ourselves and others (and what we can do about it). The second is ‘Leaning in to what is reliable’ and explores how we can connect to good resources (like nature) and the concept of ‘just as you are’. The third is ‘How to live a meaningful life’ and looks at how we can apply what we’ve learnt to start moving in the right direction.

How much is this course?
At Bright Earth we want all our offerings to be accessible to everyone, regardless of their financial circumstances, and we also need money to support the temple and those who teach. We suggest a donation for the whole course of between £15 and £45 depending on your current income level. If you are able to pay towards the top end, you’ll be supporting those who can’t pay this much. If you want to pay less than £15 just email Satya for more information.

I’m a little shy/anxious in groups – will this course be suitable for me?
Most of this group will be listening to stories and proposals, and trying a short meditation. All of the things we do in this group will be optional and if you’d rather mostly be quiet and listen rather than ask any questions or share anything, that’s fine with us. If there is something that would make it easier for you to attend, or if you would need adjustments to make the course accessible, just let Satya know.

Are you hoping that people to attend your Buddhist events after taking this course?
We are always delighted to welcome people to our Buddhist practice sessions and other events, and, Buddhism (and Bright Earth Buddhism) only suits certain people. Our hope with this course is that you will begin to find some questions and some answers of your own, and go on to explore these in the places that feel right to you – whatever those places are.

Who will lead this course?
Satya wil lead this course. She is a Buddhist minister with Bright Earth, and also works as a psychotherapist using Internal Family Systems, and as a writer. She is a long-time asker-of-questions and continues to be curious about how we can live well in this complicated world. Her site is at www.satyarobyn.com.

What if I’m interested in the course but can’t make the current dates?
Let Satya know! As this is such a short course, if you can only make two out of the three dates it would be better for you to wait for a future course. We hope to re-run it regularly.
